Students throughout the school participate in theater performances.  At PCIS we know that the benefits for students who participate in theater activities are great. Students:

  • gain ease being on stage,
  • expand their language skills including listening, speaking, reading, writing and thinking
  • learn to project, articulate and gesticulate clearly,
  • foster a  better sense of space and timing,
  • practice giving and taking directions which leads to stronger cooperative and collaborative skills,
  • develop greater empathy by taking the roles of others,
  • create a bond with and sense of responsibility toward peers,
  • and increase their self esteem.

High-school students focus on one large production, presented to the community, each year.  In 2011-12 they presented Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and in 2012-13 it was The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon. Thank you to Picasso Bar and Restaurant for donating the venue every year!

We also attend theater performances as field trips.  This year, high-school students will go to Panama City's Ancon Theater to see Deep Fried Comedy and the Rocky Horror Picture Show.  This provides students with the opportunity not only to be entertained, but to observe skills they are striving to develop in professional actors. Thank you to the Theater Guild of Ancon for sponsoring student attendance by offering a substantial discount.
