Meet Our Teachers

Jacquie Benjamin

My Name is Jacquie Benjamin.  I am from British Columbia Canada and have been here for one fabulous year.  I have worked for School District 67 in Penticton for the past 15 years specializing in Severe Behaviour Intervention. I was also the facilitator in the P.A.R.K. program that offered kids one on one support for academic and personal needs.  I earned my T.E.O.S.L. certification which has allowed me to study and teach in places such as Ban Phe Thailand.

I am very excited that I have the opportunity to work at P.C.I.S  this year and look forward to new and old friendly faces !!

Jon Feeley

Jon

believe it is my job, as a teacher, to pass along the knowledge I have acquired; giving all students the opportunities in life they deserve as well as a fulfilling future. My intent is simply to help students to learn by acting as a facilitator between the information and the students thus incorporating a fun and diverse way of lesson learning by giving them different views and outlooks on the information.

Jon Feeley is a 2013 graduate from Rider University. He received a B.A. in History and has also experienced teaching at both the middle and high school levels. His field experience in teaching expands throughout New Jersey. He has taught history in both Boundbrook High School and West Windsor High School and also science at Fisher Middle School. Having a substituting certificate, he takes pleasure in returning to Plainfield, New Jersey to teach students of all levels from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Jon’s swimming career has been an accomplishment in itself. Most recently he was the Plainfield High School Head Swim Coach in 2013-2014 and still enjoys coaching when returning to the United States with his Hackettstown swim team. Swimming aside, Jon has athletic training and enjoys exercising and eating healthy. When not spending time with his fiancé, you can see Jon running either on the main street of Nueva Gorgona or Malibu Beach.

Donna Liersch

My name is Donna Liersch and I am from Nova Scotia, Canada.  I received my B.Ed. in elementary education from Dalhousie University.  I  also have CambridgeESOL CELTA and DELTA (Module 2) qualifications in English language teaching.  It is important to me to meet the individual and group needs of my students in ways that support and challenge them in order to foster the greatest intellectual, social and emotional growth.  I believe a classroom should be a safe community where all people have a voice, feel accepted and have a sense of belonging.

When I’m not teaching, I enjoy being outdoors hiking, skiing, swimming, taking photos and working out.    I have been fortunate enough to travel and live in many foreign countries and feel it is important to give something back in each place I visit.  I love hanging out with my son, Sam, and seeing the world through his eyes!

Pcis teacher karen 2

Sometimes it takes a talented teacher who can "flip the switch" and help students become successful in math. Karen Ebersberger was fortunate to have such a teacher who helped her "make perfect sense" of a subject with which she had once struggled. Since then, Mrs. Ebersberger has enjoyed math, and has loved helping her students "flip the switch."

Since 1988, Mrs. Ebersberger has taught in several widely different venues. She taught algebra and geometry in grades nine through twelve. She taught for the Alpha Project, a dropout and juvenile delinquency intervention program. For several years, she also served as the director for educational services for HealthSouth Corporation. Among her accomplishments while there was the development, field testing and distribution of a health education curriculum presented to over 250,000 students.

Her accomplishments as a teacher, a communicator and an innovative instructional developer flow from her love of teenagers. She believes in every student's ability to uncover and develop his or her own individual talents and abilities. The job of the teacher is to encourage the discovery process.

As a teacher with Panama Coast International School, Mrs. Ebersberger appreciates the possibilities for innovation offered at PCIS. She also wants to encourage her students, as well as herself to follow the PCIS motto. Strive to be greater.

Mrs. Ebersberger earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Florida Southern College, and her Associates degree from Pasco-Hernando Community College.

Pcis brad 2

When narrowing down a career, Brad had his heart set on Public Relations. However, after three years in college he felt led to do something that would give back to the community. Young people have always been an important part of his life, so following a career in education was a natural fit. Brad went back to school to receive his Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Social Science Education and has never looked back.

For 14 years Brad has taught Social Studies and English in an array of environments. From world history, global studies, and international affairs to English literature, psychology, and public speaking, Mr. Ebersberger has enjoyed the experience of passing on knowledge to the next generation. He created an advanced placement psychology curriculum and program that has been implemented in his hometown of Jacksonville. Florida.  Mr. Ebersberger has also played an integral part in changing the direction of inner-city youth by coaching soccer and baseball for a number of years.

When Brad is not spending his time in the classroom, he can be seen spending time with his family, surfing at one of the local surf breaks, or leading a discussion for a local youth program. He enjoys all of the outdoor activities that Panama provides. PCIS has been a great fit for Mr. Ebersberger who believes that all students deserve a chance to learn in a fun and loving environment.

Mr. Ebersberger earned his Associates degree from Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Fl, and his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fl.
