Panama Coast International School
Panama Coast International School (PCIS) has offered a full-English education since 2008 to students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 living in Panama's Pacific beach communities. Faculty members are native-English speakers with North-American teaching certification and provide individualized instruction following a US-based curriculum in a small-group setting.
Classes are held from August to June (Monday to Thursday 8:00 am to 3:00 pm) and students are welcome to enroll at any time during the year. Besides the core subjects of Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science and Social Studies all students attend daily Spanish classes and weekly Art, Music and PE classes.
High-school students receive a North-American diploma and are fully prepared to attend university. Academic activities are project based and students are expected to participate in extra-curricular activities including community service, the Science Fair, musical and theatrical performances, and journalism.
Currently, there are more than seventy students from Europe, North America, and Latin America and the school will grow as the expat community grows.
PCIS - 2014 Graduation
To get to PCIS turn south (toward the ocean) from the Panamerican Highway. If you are traveling from the east (Panama City, Chame), that is a left turn and if you are travelling from from the west (Coronado, Costa Rica) that is a right turn.
Stay on the same road for about 1.5 km passing the police station on the right and you will see the school on the left.
If you reach the corner with Minisuper Jonathan and Locos Grill, you have gone a block too far.
